Bio
I named my business Oregon Fresh Start for a reason. I want people to experience the joy and relief that comes from having their financial life under control. I am a member in good standing of the Oregon State Bar since 1979 (OSB #79398). After attending the United States Coast Guard Academy, I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970 from the University of Oregon. After graduating, I worked in commercial banking for several years, and then received my Juris Doctor degree from The Northwestern School of law in 1979. I have been married to Marilyn Smith for 53 years and have four children. When not helping clients solve financial stress, I enjoy running (even completed a few marathons), kayaking, cycling, and an occasional round of golf.
In my 43 years as an Oregon bankruptcy attorney with offices in Bend and Hermiston, I have helped more than 11,000 Oregonians with credit counseling and debt relief matters. I am a member of the Debtors and Creditors Committee of the Oregon State Bar as well as the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.
As a Bend credit counseling and debt relief attorney, I and my staff at Oregon Fresh Start provide clients throughout the State of Oregon with the highest quality of legal representation available at the lowest possible cost. Even if you are not in the Bend or Hermiston area, I can still help you. When required, I travel throughout the State of Oregon, serving all areas, including Portland, Eugene, Salem, Bend, Pendleton, Roseburg, Medford, and the Oregon coast.
My goal is to treat each client's legal matter with the same care that would be given to my own important legal matters.
My experience of 43 years as a bankruptcy attorney in Bend allows me to aggressively pursue your rights while at the same time providing guidance in settlement with creditors and bankruptcy trustees where appropriate.
